On a new species of Styloteleia Kieffer (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) from India, along with a key to species of the Oriental Region

Abstract: 

A new species of the rare genus Styloteleia Kieffer (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) from India is described and illustrated.  S. alpha sp. nov. is the first species under the genus  to be described from India. Affinities with rest of the species known globally are discussed. A key to species from Oriental Region is also provided.

Illustrated identification key to common termite (Isoptera) genera of south India

Abstract: 

An illustrated key for the identification of soldier caste of common termite genera so far recorded from south India is given.  This comprises of 35 genera belonging to five families. The families includes Termitidae, Rhinotermitidae, Kalotermitidae, Hodotermitidae and Styolotermitidae.

Trichotaxonomy of Travancore Flying Squirrel, Petinomys fuscocapillus (Jerdon) (Mammalia: Rodentia: Sciuridae) and comparative study with other Indian Species of Flying squirrels

Abstract: 

The Travancore flying squirrel, Petinomys fuscocapillus (Jerdon) listed as near threatened by IUCN is distributed in Peninsular India and Sri Lanka. The present study provides the characteristic features of Primary Guard Hair of Travancore flying squirrel. Besides, a key to the identification of the other Indian species of Flying squirrels of the genera Hylopetes and Petaurista through characteristics of PGH is also provided.

Mystus indicus and M. heoki, two new catfishes from Kerala, India

Abstract: 

Mystus indicus, a new species of the family Bagridae, is described from Kuttoor of Manimala River in Kerala, India.  It is distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: snout longer; median groove on head appear as double cephalic fontanels; occipital process reaches to basal bone of dorsal fin, on both sides of occipital process a thick layer of flesh present, which conceals the former from side view; rayed dorsal base prominently swollen on both sides.  Mystus heoki, new species, differs from its relative species in having a markedly elongate body, shorter head and smaller eyes; occipital process short and it never reach basal bone of dorsal fin and the former is not visible as it is concealed under a thick layer of flesh; adipose dorsal fin small, its base short, and it is located fairly away from rayed dorsal fin. The new species of fishes are described and compared with related species.

Descriptions of four new species of the genus Alloxysta Förster (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea: Figitidae: Charipinae) from India

Four species under genus Alloxysta Förster are described as new to science from India. Their morphological and diagnostic characters are described and illustrated. Affinities with their closely related species are also discussed. A dichotomous key to the species of Alloxysta of India is provided.
